Willam Carlos Williams는 일상에 대해 명백히 미구어로 쓰는 미국의 시인이자 소설가이며 의사이다. 의사라는 직업 때문에 처음 의 표현법으로는 부당하지 않지만 정확한 기술로 사실의 실제 체험을 시에 재구성하고 있다아 Williams는 약 45년 동안은 취미로 시를 쓰기 처음 하여 1909년에 습작겸 모방작인 Pomes 를 발표했다. 펜실베니아 대학교(University of Pennsylvania)에 진학하여 스물 네 살 때 이 대학 의과대학을 졸업하고 고향에서 개업하면서 처음 활동을 하였다.
